生きる 心拍 生前

Ikiru Shinpaku Seizen

Santiago Chamorro

Synopsis

In these pages, the present reveals itself as a palimpsest, a surface where overlapping layers of time resist being erased.

Santiago Chamorro directs his gaze toward that friction between what is and what stubbornly endures: echoes of a future that never arrived, neighborhood shops surviving without apparent logic, objects that should no longer be there and yet persistently occupy a space in the city’s memory.

They are not ruins—or not quite—but rather the flip side of modernity, those corners where life goes on with a melancholic yet vital inertia. His images whisper that nothing ever completely disappears; it merely retreats to the margins, into a half-light where it still means something.

Author

Spanish photographer residing in Japan since 2019.

His interest in photography began at an early age and intensified when, at eighteen, he acquired his first camera.

In 2012, he began working with analog film, and over time, that process became the core of his practice. Since around 2015, most of his personal work has been developed on chemical film, drawn by its unhurried pace, materiality, organic qualities, variety of formats, and the way it demands closer observation.

His work explores the everyday, finding beauty in seemingly simple people, objects, and spaces. Through his lens, he strives to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary: ghosts that inhabit the broad daylight.
